After a dramatic penalty save from their keeper Chris Staite and an equally impressive save from New Inns keeper, Joe Cummins, to deny Liam Thomas, Old House Athletic couldn't get out of first gear and went 1-0 down in 1st half and despite a couple of opportunities. Martin Butler equalised shortly after the break after Blatant hand ball to deny Joe Haycock his first of the season, but Butler slotted it away comfortably from the penalty spot. New Inns then went ahead again, but it was short lived as Butler put away his second of the game, a superb left-footed shot, to draw Old House level again. At the end of the 90 minutes, it was 2-2 and the game could have gone either way. In the first half on extra time, Old House really stepped up their game and Butler completed his hat-trick by flicking it over the keeper from a tight angle to push Old House in front and win the game, despite some very heavy pressure from New Inns in the dying minutes. |
