A half-hearted start by Old House saw a few chances come and go, but some good defending from Queslett denied any clear-cut opportunities. It was Queslett who scored first when the referee awarded them a penalty from the call of one of their players. They converted the chance and left Old House trailing with a big up in performance needed to get back in to the game. Within two minutes of the penalty Martin Butler put a great through-ball to Simon Charles, who scuffed it wide of the post. With only five minutes of the half left, Martin Butler got on the end of a long-ball and without time to take a touch, fired it past the keeper to level the score. Old House now could taste it and before the end of the half had three more good chances, but all to no avail. Within two minutes of the restart, Queslett went ahead again after the Old House defense switched off. Despite being camped almost exclusively in Queslett's half for the rest of the game, a combination of average play, great goal-keeping, good defending and a blatantly biased refereeing saw Old House fail to score again and the match finished 2 - 1. A disappointing attitude amongst other things led to a very disappointing result. As the season starts to draw to a close, opportunities for the top half of the table are beginning slowly disappear. With a cup game next week, the gap between us and the other teams is growing. Hopefully this will be a reminder to all that no team will be a pushover. The only remaining chance for Old House to achieve anything this season is now the Senior Cup. With many of Division 1's big teams out of this cup, there may never be a chance as good as this again.....
