OHAFC V's Yardley Amateurs
2 - 4

An extremely poor first half from Old House saw them do one down after only five mins. Despite not pushing hard, they still saw some chances come and go. Si went close after a flick on from Nathan’s head, only to see it skim the top of the goal. A good save from the Yardley Amateurs keeper denied Guy T and, minutes later, Nathan missed an open net, slicing it wide of the goal after beating the advancing keeper to the ball. However, Yardley didn’t miss their chances. A quick through ball allowed them to go two up on the half hour, and three up five minutes later. Yardley dominated the first half and Old House couldn’t wait for the whistle, but not before another quick ball put Old House 4 – 0 behind at the break.

During the second half Old House turned up the tempo. Simon Charles scored a great turn-and-strike only moments after the restart. More chances came with Old House dominating the play in their opponents half for the majority of the second half. It wasn’t until five minutes to full time that Old House could find the mark again, but only after Si had been brought down by the keeper for a penalty, which Tom Haycock calmly converted. However, it was too little too late for Old House and the game finished 2 – 4.

A poor way for us to start back after the new year. Another home fixture next week sees us play Court Celtic. After losing to Court earlier in the season after being 2 goals up, will the Old House personel gear themselves up for this one? Are we going to end up in a relegation battle, or are we going to start playing for 90 minutes in each game? Top half of the table is still possible, but is slipping away, week by week.............

Penalty decision - Was it a penalty? You decide.
